Award Special Projects

There are projects held by The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award which facilitate the expansion of the Award program in areas with a certain specific: social, ethnic etc.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Romania currently carries out three special projects:

1. InSide Out, a project that is addressed to youth form the reeducation centers and penitentiaries. The Reeducation Center form Buzias, the Reeducation Center form Targu Ocna and the Codlea Penitentiary.

2. Award in Business, where the Award program is offered to the Romanian companies that employ youth,offering them the opportunity for personal development. 

award_in_business3. Youth Covasna, it is a project that offers the youth of Hungarian ethnicity from Covasna and Harghita Counties.

 

Award in Business Project

Target:

Unemployed young people or in danger of becoming unemployed

• Promoting the Award programme to the companies as a new opportunity to support the young employees to become better, more efficient, recognized and loyal. Having better trained and skilled employees the company will become more efficient and productive.

• Employees, young or adults, usually in their companies do not have the opportunity to have a longer sustainable personal development due to the challenges and workload, companies choosing teambuilding activities usually to raise their motivation. By having the Award companies will be able to provide the best recognized tool of personal and professional development and employees will have a lower risk of becoming unemployed in the future.

Length of the project:

12 months, until 31 December 2017

InSide Out Project

Target:

Young people in correctional institutions

Young people whose access to the Award is limited by lack of local delivery

The aim of the project is to actively contribute through the Award programme to the personal development of young people from educational centers (National Administration of Penitentiaries has two type of correctional institutions for young people: for those aged between 14-18 years educational/re-educational centers where they are deprived of liberty but has access to different activities that help them to integrate and penitentiaries where young people over 18 years ) in order to reintegrate them into the society, to diminish the relapse rate and contributing to their personal development by creating leaders among the young people who were released from the centres.

Make the Award programme available to all young people aged between 14-19 years from re-educational centers, and to young people between 19-24 years from Romanian penitentiaries, to young people aged 14-24 years who were released from centres through the National Administration of Penitentiaries, aiming to increase the active involvement of the institutions in voluntary programs.

Length of the project:

36 months, until 31 December 2018

Award Youth Covasna

Target :

  • Young people who are teenage/single parents
  • Unemployed young people or in danger of becoming unemployed
  • Young people suffering rural and remote location exclusion

Details :

In Sfantu Gheorghe city where the program currently runs with 80 young people, two skilled

leader, as well as 40 partners operate successfully (associations, persons, who help the youngsters

in their activities , for free or for a symbolic fee), nearly 70 % of these young people couldn’t

afford to join the program because of financial reasons, they can not cover the costs necessary for

the activities and the costs of preparation for the Adventurous Journey These costs can not be

covered by the participants because their families don’t have the necessary financial background

to cover these costs.
