Patron Award Romania

In Romania, the Award was run as pilot project between 2011-2013 under the name of The International Award for Young People – with the support of the Rangoonwala Foundation and  The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association from Great Britain.

Since June 2013, Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, became the Patron of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Romania.

The first event was the Royal Gala for the official launch of the  Award in Romania, a unique event which has brought together the Royal Families of Romania and Great Britain, the Ministry of Education and more than 150 representatives from the public and private, sponsors and partners. The events continued with the signing of the partnership with the Ministry of National Education and the Royal Lunch of Business Woman organized and hosted by the Royal House of Romania.

Since the official launch of the Award in 2013, the program has seen a rapid expansion in Romania, forming over 1.500 adults as Award leaders, trainers, and supervisors and assessors. Up to now, over 8.000 young people have taken part in the Award, discovering new skills and developing the existing ones. The impact of the Award on many of these young people is extraordinary: it has transformed their lives.
