Online Record Book – Your Digital Journal
If you are aged 14 to 24 and are ready to begin your Award journey, you will use an essential digital tool: the Online Record Book (ORB) – the space where you choose, record and reflect on your activities.
The Online Record Book (ORB) is the official platform provided by the International Award Foundation for all participants and Award Leaders. It is regularly updated to meet users’ needs and to make working with it as simple and efficient as possible.
With this platform you can:
- set your goals for each section (Personal Skills, Physical Activities, Volunteering and Adventurous Journey, plus the Residential Project at Gold level),
- log your activities,
- track your progress, and
- reflect on your personal development.
Think of the ORB as the digital journal of your Award experience – one that stays with you step by step and gives you an overview of your progress.
After you register, you will work with your Award Leader to choose suitable activities and set your goals. The platform provides:
- a visual progress bar,
- a display of weeks left until each section is complete, and
- automatic counting of hours for your activities.
Because personal development happens over time, the ORB reminds you: the Award is a marathon, not a sprint
Yes. You can access the ORB:
- through a web browser on desktop or mobile, and
- via mobile apps:
- ORB Participant (for participants), and
- ORB Leader (for Award Leaders).
The app lets you:
- receive useful notifications from your Award Leader,
- log activities “on the go” – whether you’re on a break, on a bus, or outdoors, and
- use the platform on any device: phone, tablet (iOS/Android) or laptop.
In addition to recording progress, you can:
- write journal notes about each activity – not just what you did, but also what you learned,
- upload photographs, video or audio as evidence of your involvement, and
- download your final report signed by your activity instructors – useful in educational portfolios or interviews.
The ORB is your digital reflection journal where you note, each week, exactly what you have done, what went well, and what could be improved. In doing so, you will become more organised and structured, develop your ability to reflect and adjust, gain new skills, stay active and engaged, and measure your progress, time and effort towards achieving your goals.
ORB is not just a digital tool – it’s the place where your Award story unfolds and where you stop from time to time to see how far you have come.
