Global Forum 2022

Hosted by The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Romania, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum 2022 was held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania from 10-15 October 2002.

Coming together as an Association in person for the first time since the pandemic, Forum 2022 will forever be remembered as a truly unique event in the Award’s collective history. Being able to travel internationally once again, to work side-by-side, planning the strategic direction of the Award and improving access, reach and impact for years to come, is something we shall never take for granted again.

This was also the first time the Association had met in a
non-Commonwealth country. The Award in Romania warmly welcomed all guests and we were hosts for hundreds global Leaders, hundreds of people from public and private environment together with other hundreds of young people from Romania and abroad.

The agenda was formed from a series of Plenary sessions, important events, interactive workshops, an International Gold Award Ceremony and field visits to public and private schools from Cluj Napoca which gave delegates the opportunity to see the Award in action. The Forum provided
a platform for discussion on advocacy and sustainability, partnerships and opportunities for growth, and sharing lessons and best practice in how the Award can help young people to be ready for their world, whatever that might look like.

Forum 2022 was the first hybrid event of its kind – attended by 217 National Award Operator (NAO) staff, as well as The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation (the Foundation) staff. 145 delegates attended in person, whilst 72 joined virtually. The event was also attended by special guests, dignitaries, World Fellows and Emerging Leaders.
